The Council of Europe Platform for the Protection of Journalists has today published an alert by its partner organisations Article 19, Index and RSF on draft amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Article 284.2). This, according to the alert, could be used to prevent the media reporting on public interest matters. The Council of Europe is concerned by the implications of the draft amendments on freedom of expression and is examining the draft amendments.
