The cities of Reggio Emilia and Novellara (Italy) awarded an inter-city ICC grant for project on interfaith actions

The Cities of Reggio Emilia and Novellara in Italy have been awarded an ICC grant for inter-city work for a project on developing a methodology for interfaith work, applicable to both the Italian and the international contexts.

The project aims to support local public authorities in creating an effective dialogue with the several formal and informal religious communities. Concretely, the project aims to collect good practices, both at national and international levels, on which to build guidelines around the following topics:

  • Safety and legalisation of buildings used as places of worship;
  • Strategies to dignify the different faiths in public spaces;
  • Places of worship as welfare providers.

The project aims to produce a set of detailed guidelines specifically for the Italian context under the current legislation as well as a set of more general guidelines for the international ICC community.

Within the frame of the project, the cities will cooperate with Fondazione Internazionale Oasis; UCOII and Giovani Musulmani d’Italia as well as Centro Studi Caritas Ambrosiana. The organisation Mondisieme will be the main implementing partner for the project. Cooperation between the cities and Mondisieme is long-standing and the organisation has the necessary expertise to implement the project.

Congratulations!
